Daniel C. Cherkin, PhD
Senior Investigator
Research Interests:
Dr. Cherkin is primarily interested in how a health care delivery system can
creatively organize and deliver services that most effectively and
cost-effectively meet the needs of patients with chronic illness. He is
particularly interested in evaluating non-surgical treatments for chronic
musculoskeletal pain, especially those that are not traditionally used by
medical doctors (i.e., acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, meditation, tai
chi). He is also interested in the role of various "alternative" providers
in helping to meet the health care needs of Americans.
